Anniversary Card

This card was for my lovely daughter and son-in-law on their first wedding anniversary! Since it's the paper anniversary I thought a nice card with a gift certificate was just the ticket. The collage is made of many of the wedding pictures and I hope reminds them of what a good time everyone had at the event! The envelope was covered with wedding cake flowers along with a picture of the wedding cake (also shown here!) Congratulations on 1 year!

My Dream Show

Food TV has started a new show called CupCake Wars. I would love to be on that show. So far they have been looking for kind've exotic, not-to sweet cakes, with a lot of presentation appeal. The issue is the time constraints! They have to make 1000 cupcakes plus a display in 2 hours! CRAZY! Anyway it is a great program to showcase just how popular cupcake's are today! You should definitely check it out! The first run of the show is on Tuesday nights at 9:00 PM. Check out their website:

Hope you find me on the show sometime! Haha how crazy would that be?

Father's Day

Well it's almost Father's Day so here is my card contribution for the occassion. We may have a cook-out so there is a definite western theme going here! Perhaps steak and beans? Still working on a menu. Hope my dad likes his card and western gifts! And everything rhymes kay ya - Father's Day - Lesa Kay Does it get any better than this? Hope everyone has a happy day!

Thank You Cards for 52nd Birthday

My family helped me celebrate my birthday in style. We grilled pizzas and had shrimp from NC (marinated in lemon and spices - it is sooo good) along with the beautiful cupcakes above. Thanks everyone for a great day! I thought I would start making some thank you cards for everyone using some of the wonderful card making supplies I received on my b-day. The first was for my daughter!

Birthday Card

My daughter is also great at card making! We keep throwing around the idea of a business?! Who knows maybe we could make a go of it. . .She made this lovely card for my 52 (yikes!) birthday!

Birthday Cupcakes

My daughter and my mom surprised me on my birthday with some lovely cupcakes from the Tizzerts bakery (http://www.tizzerts.com/) in Charlotte. There was such an amazing variety and they were so pretty they had to be showcased here - everything from my special chocolate (thanks for remembering I LOVE chocolate cake) to boston cream cupcakes and red velvet. They were delicious! Thanks! They were beautiful!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a great time for some card making. Even though I only have one mom, I had the chance to make cards for daughter (thank you for the wonderful weekend) and aunt (for being so supportive!) Hope they enjoyed their cards!

T-Bone's Birthday

Friday May 7th was T-bone's birthday! Great chance for card (even for someone that can't read!) A fun time was had by all!

75th Birthday Card

Between March 27th and May 16th, there are 5 family birthdays! This year we had two 75th birthdays to celebrate! here is the card for my aunt who is celebrating this week. I enjoy making cards. It's very relaxing and creative. I spent all day Saturday trying to organize my card making supplies. It made it so much easier to work!

A Big Slice of Cake

This week my Year 2 students and I created 2 full size sheet cakes for the local women's club. We used almost 50 cups of cake batter and a case of confectioners sugar for our icing. I think the students enjoyed the project. We hope that the parade guests enjoyed our cakes! The occassion was the 100th anniversary of the women's club! They even had a parade - don't you just love small towns?

A Budding Cake Business?

A member of the Beckley Women's Club called this morning and asked if we could make a sheet cake for 100 people for their 100th birthday celebration.  The cake will be featured at an event in uptown Beckley next Saturday. I volunteered to the job for free! Hope that gets our name out there! Maybe we could start a cake decorating business at the school? Unfortunately anything I do right now with cakes reminds me of my friend Cathy who passed away from breast cancer this year. Cathy always came in the spring to work with ProStart students on their cake decorating skills! She was an amazing entrepreneur and cake decorator. The people of Beckley (and me) will surely miss her and her cakes!!

Dad's 75th Birthday

In honor of my dad's awesome 75th birthday I created the birthday hat card! I didn't get a good picture of the inside of the card and envelope but the envelope is lined
with the orange plaid paper.
Very cute indeed! Happy Birthday DAD!

"Kicking" Cards

This card design was for my favorite son-in-law's birthday.
He is a big fan of UFC!

Giant Cupcakes

For my daughter and son-in laws birthdays I created some giant cupcakes! Angel food (chocolate and vanilla with a hint of chocolate ganache and strawberries) for my daughter and red velvet (with chocolate ganache, cream cheese and chocolate frosting) for my son - in-law.  Both cakes were a  success!

Birthday Card

Trying to find a creative niche. Trying my hand at greeting cards. This was my first attempt! A 28th birthday card and matching envelope for my lovely daughter! The card went along with her giant cupcake angel food cake! Looking forward to trying new mediums and making some unusual cards.

The First Slice of Cake

The first slice of cake turned out great. Unfortunately the recipient wasn't interested so I just had to eat it myself (good call on my part)! My creative business idea is to provide giant cupcakes and custom slices of cake for specific occasions. It's fun to dream about the business and practice for my family and friends. Hopefully the next slice will go to someone excited about cake!
