75th Birthday Card
Between March 27th and May 16th, there are 5 family birthdays! This year we had two 75th birthdays to celebrate! here is the card for my aunt who is celebrating this week. I enjoy making cards. It's very relaxing and creative. I spent all day Saturday trying to organize my card making supplies. It made it so much easier to work!

A Big Slice of Cake
This week my Year 2 students and I created 2 full size sheet cakes for the local women's club. We used almost 50 cups of cake batter and a case of confectioners sugar for our icing. I think the students enjoyed the project. We hope that the parade guests enjoyed our cakes! The occassion was the 100th anniversary of the women's club! They even had a parade - don't you just love small towns?

A Budding Cake Business?
A member of the Beckley Women's Club called this morning and asked if we could make a sheet cake for 100 people for their 100th birthday celebration. The cake will be featured at an event in uptown Beckley next Saturday. I volunteered to the job for free! Hope that gets our name out there! Maybe we could start a cake decorating business at the school? Unfortunately anything I do right now with cakes reminds me of my friend Cathy who passed away from breast cancer this year. Cathy always came in the spring to work with ProStart students on their cake decorating skills! She was an amazing entrepreneur and cake decorator. The people of Beckley (and me) will surely miss her and her cakes!!
Dad's 75th Birthday
In honor of my dad's awesome 75th birthday I created the birthday hat card! I didn't get a good picture of the inside of the card and envelope but the envelope is lined
with the orange plaid paper.

Very cute indeed! Happy Birthday DAD!

Giant Cupcakes
For my daughter and son-in laws birthdays I created some giant cupcakes! Angel food (chocolate and vanilla with a hint of chocolate ganache and strawberries) for my daughter and red velvet (with chocolate ganache, cream cheese and chocolate frosting) for my son - in-law. Both cakes were a success!

Birthday Card
The First Slice of Cake
The first slice of cake turned out great. Unfortunately the recipient wasn't interested so I just had to eat it myself (good call on my part)! My creative business idea is to provide giant cupcakes and custom slices of cake for specific occasions. It's fun to dream about the business and practice for my family and friends. Hopefully the next slice will go to someone excited about cake!
